Radiant Glow: 5 Ways to More Youthful Healthy Skin

Radiant Glow: 5 Ways to More Youthful Healthy Skin

We all want healthy, glowing skin that reflects our energy and vibrancy, radiating from within. What are some of the natural ways that we can achieve and maintain this? Nutritious diets, supplements, exercise, sleep, and protecting our skin from the environment, are all an important element.

Let’s start with our diets. Good skin is a sign of the overall health of our bodies. This starts with a balanced diet. Collagen is the building block of skin and requires amino acids found in protein rich foods. Think fish, chicken, beef, eggs, and dairy products. Vitamin C works in conjunction with collagen, so be sure to add an abundance of berries, citrus fruits, broccoli, spinach, and other leafy greens.

Fatty fish, such as fresh Norwegian salmon is a healthy source of omega-3, vitamin E, and zinc. Omega-3 addresses skin’s inflammation, redness, and loss of moisture, while vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that can help protect the skin. Seeds and nuts are a wonderful source of vitamin E. Try sprinkling walnuts, or sunflower seeds over breakfast cereals, or salads.

Additionally, eating foods rich in carotenoids, may protect the skin against damaging UVB rays from the sun. Shop for carrots, squash, and pumpkin at your local farmer’s market.

A big part of our diet is also hydration. This helps in keeping skin plump and nourished. Aim for eight glasses of water or water-based drinks per day. If you drink tea, choose green tea for its high levels of antioxidants called catechin. It also has an added benefits of providing energy. Perfect for a morning workout!

Of course, we can’t maintain all our nutrients from diet alone. Life can be rushed and stressful. We may skip meals, or eat on the run. Supplements are aptly named as they supplement our diets. For skin health reach for Aarja Health’s Collagen & Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C500, Omega3 Boost or Vegan Omega3.

Research has shown that regular exercise not only keeps our bodies flexible, resilient, and strong, but is good for our skin. Exercise gets our blood pumping, which circulates oxygen, and nutrients through our system. This leads to a post-work out glow!

Sleep makes us feel rested, restored, and ready to start a new day. A lack of sleep causes the body to release the stress hormone cortisol, which can result in inflammation of the skin. Signs include redness, itchiness, bruising and skin that is slow to heal. A trick Team Aarja Health loves is taking our Premium Magnesium3, before bedtime, with a small snack. By relaxing your muscles and nervous system, with our supplement, you may experience a better night of sleep. Aim for seven to nine hours of skin beautifying sleep per night.

Protecting skin from the elements starts with a good sunscreen, with an SPF of 30 or higher. Choose one that is broad spectrum, meaning it protects from both UVB and UVA rays. Think about including a hat, sunglasses and even clothing, with built in Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF).  Remember to moisturize after a bath and shower to trap in moisture. At night add a richer cream to your face. Rejuvenate while you sleep!

Adding these changes to your skincare routine will lead to more glowing, healthy skin. Love the skin you are in!
